I am in this and love it. Primarily advising on diet and nutrition. It’s really rewarding helping others acheive their goals.
I work part time and earn GBP1k per month. For full time, the sky’s the limit! Low at first until you get the business off the ground (hence it’s best to start part time). Happy to provide you with further info - just email me.
My friend is a LPN and really likes this. I am not sure what she makes though. If you are interested in doing anything in this line of work, check the local phone book for home health services or ask the hospital–they know. The home health service will train you to be a nurse aid and they do not make much money –at least not at first and they have to do all the work. The nurse does more evaluations and sets things up and checks to make sure things are going well. It can be rewarding and very challenging–baths, shaving people, cleaning, cooking etc.. all depends on the person’s needs.
Hospice of Hope hires people for these jobs as well, so contact them too. Go with the agency that you feel the best about—look into them and find out their reputation if possible.
Hi, I have a health care worker that comes ten hours a week. Most in my apartment complex have helpers. Most of our helpers are great. We know that it is hard for workers to understand our needs and we work together with our helpers to make our relationships good. Our aids become like family. The pay in Michigan is $9.00 per hr. Wages depend on agency. Make sure the agency is good to their workers. My agency is harsh on workers and they are supposed to be the best. The workers are not treated fairly. Of course, if you start your clients will help you to know what agencies work well with you and your client. Call Social Services, employment agency, hospitals, schools, and even apartment complexes for disabled. Even apartment complexes for retiree’s and elderly will give you information. The pay is not much but if you are considerate and love people, you will do this job. You will not find more loving and understanding individuals as in disabled complexes. Not V A, but complexes that have disabled.
I truly enjoy doing what I do. I feel like I am really helping folks. I do not earn what I am worth because I find that i give more of myself than my paycheck reflects but because I feel good about what I do, it works out OK.
Most local hospitals and nursing homes have OJT (on the job training) at their centers. You will work, learn and get paid all at the same time.
