will nvq level 3 in children and young people care get me into social work or youth work?

emma24uk asked the question:

hi guys
i have just got a new job as a support worker in a childrens home dealing with children and young people who have autism. I will be trained to get an nvq level 3 in health and social care (children and young people). Will this be a good foundation for getting myself into social work or youth work??
I already have a degree but its of no releveance to social work so im trying to work my way up into a job which would provide social work degree alongside its job ie as a social work assistant. Will this be a good foot in the door?

It’ll help but you’ll probably need to do a degree in Social Work. Youth work, I’m not so sure about.

This will be excellent experience for your application to an MSW program. I began my own work prior to my education with children dealing with autism.
