How can Americans survive with out health care?
bluechristy12 asked the question:
I have either worked as an employee or owned my own bussiness all of my life (since 13 years old ). And I am now 55.
As a emploryer I had to train my help in design . I valued the people that worked for me. I tryed to pay them well. Yet I could not afford to give them health care ins . Nor did I have health insurance myself. I paid quartly taxes on my bussiness and other taxes as well. Then three majors crisis hit me at once .My husband suffered a major stroke and died six months later. The economy took a big nose dive. And now I suffer from a major health condition. I had to apply for state Medicaid .
It took over a year to get these benifits. My point is this -we need the people that work for us . We need our working people in this country to be stronge and healthy . Medicaid functions well. I have no complaints. If something like national health care does not happen then I believe this country will fall into decay.

we survive fine, right up until we get sick or break a leg
then we’re screwed
Well that’s fine at your age. You aren’t going to be paying a huge increase in taxes for 40+ years. Maybe if you had paid a little less you could have worked out a way to get health insurance. I don’t make a lot but have a great health insurance plan and my job picks up most of the cost. Trust me I recently learned how great my insurance is. You think National Health Insurance would be good, but have you considered the amount of places that won’t accept Medicaid and Medicare because the Govt is too much effort to deal with? There are plenty of Doctors that don’t want to try to fill out all the paperwork and just hope the govt will reimburse them. So you know what will end up happening? You’ll get the Govt hospitals and all the other doctors and hospitals. So then the rich will buy their own private insurance. The rest of us won’t get Health Insurance through work anymore unless it is a huge company. The place will figure you get free health care so deal with what you get.
