Some misconceptions about universal health care?

Laughing all the way asked the question:

I’ve read many misconceptions about universal healthcare. No, it’s not perfect, yes sometimes there are waits. But here are some misconceptions and the facts.
MYTH:It takes weeks to months to go see a gp.
Fact: Walk in clinics are everywhere for most of them an appointment is not nessecary. it doesn’t take weeks or months at the most a few hours. I’ve never waited longer than 5 minutes.
MYTH: You can’t decide what doctor you want to see.
FACT: You can go see any doctor you wish.
MYTH: The doctors aren’t as good.
FACT: They go through intense medical training.
MYTH: There are no medical advancements done in countries with universal healthcare.
FACT: Canada is the county that invented the pacemaker, discovered insulin for dietbedies, we were the first ones to start practicing chemotherepy on cancer patients, Canada was the first country to practice heart surgery by a robot , the ones who invented the electric wheelchair, we discovered the DNA gene for cystic fibrosis…
Those are just a few advancements from one country who has universal healthcare. There are thousands more from other countries as well.

This is just the tip of the iceberg. Plus the UofA might have the cure for alheimers and other forms of dimensia.
Midnightmoons: I can understand that.

Will the liberal “free” health care plan be as incompetent as the liberal leadership?

Paul asked the question:

Libs, imagine you need a critical surgery to continue living…say brain surgery (excuse the pun). Anyways, you know that this type of surgery is risky — if the doctor goofs you could be a vegetable (more so than your current state) essentially ending your life. Fortunately, the worlds most experienced doctors are available for the task. These doctors not only have advanced education and training in the area of brain surgery, they have also performed countless successful surgeries. Now some clown comes out of left field. He has the word “CHANGE” painted on his t-shirt. He promises he can do the job better than the doctors with experience. He has never performed a surgery before, has less qualifications than a graduate student just starting into the medical field. Who do you choose?

Remember, the choice you make is permanent. It determines whether your life continues or ends. You notice one of the real doctors is asian. You don’t like asians because you feel the US is becoming too reliant on China. However, this guy wearing the “CHANGE” t-shirt is black. You’re not a racist, like 99.9% of the people in the world, so you decide to prove this by choosing the black guy wearing the “CHANGE” t-shirt.

And that pretty much sums up the election.

The moral of this question is, if the left is willing to settle for incompetent leadership, what sort of medical treatment are they willing to make taxpayers pay for? It’s going to be a 5hit solution no matter how nice Obama tries to make it sound.

With reference to the ‘pessary issue’; ‘Lvn’s’ & ‘RN’s” in the Home Health Care Industry’.

ARIES asked the question:

with reference to the ‘pessary issue’, we are talking about patients that have homehealthcare; are wheelchair bound or bedbound and unable to do the procedure on her own and in addition the patient has ‘multiple, ’serious’ health issues’ that are much more serious than the pessary but gets frequent infections if the the pessary is not changed by a ‘trained nurse’ as well as ‘properly’! We aren’t talking about the nurses in the hospitals– we are talking about the nurses that ‘choose’ to be in the home health care industry!– big difference!

To the ‘RN’ that said she was trained to work in the hospital, tell me why Nurses in the ‘e/r’ or nurses ‘working the floor’ cannot ‘change’ a pessary?

I disagree with this ‘RN” because too many women depend on a ‘pessary’ because they cannot have surgery due to serious nmedical conditions, includung’ the ‘pessary’!
COUKLD SOMEONE BESIDES THE ‘R.N.’ THAT ALREADY ANSWERED, PLEASE ANSWER THIS QUESTION?

SHE MAY BE AN R.N.- BUT SHE STILL DOESN’T GET IT!

IN ADDITION, I AM NOT THE IONLY PERSON THAT ‘POSED’ THE QUESTION!

IT WAS ON HERE BY SOMEONE ELSE BUT ASKED IN A DIFFERENT WAY!

IF THE ‘NURSES DON’T LEARN IT IN SCHOOL, PRAY TELL, ‘WHERE’ ARE THEY SUPPOSED TO LEARN?

ARIES
COULD SOMEONE BESIDES THE ‘R.N.’ THAT ALREADY ANSWERED, PLEASE ANSWER THIS QUESTION?

ARIES
AT LEAST 600 MILLION PEOPLE USE THE INTERNET ‘DAILY’! I CANNOT BELIEVE THAT I CAN ONLY GET ‘I ANSWER’ FROM ‘ONE NURSE’ THAT REGRETABLY MAKES ‘FUN’ OF THIS SERIOUS ISSUE!

SHE WOULDN’T BE SO ‘UPPITY’ IF WERE ‘HER’ PROBLEM!

CAN SOMEONE ELSE P-L-E-A-S-E- ‘ANSWER THE QUESTION’!

TO THE ‘RN.’– GO BACK TO SCHOOL AND TAKE A ‘REFRESHER COURSE’– YOU MISSED OUT ON ‘MANNERS’!

What are some jobs in the health care field that have shortages of people besides nursing?

â„¢GlamGirlyGirl asked the question:

I was reading an article and I read this comment.

forget a 4 year college
This goes to show how a 4 year degree is becoming obsolete and a burden. A recent article on msn stated that almost 60 percent of America’s workforce, those with college degrees, are working in positions in which they are over qualified for. Many positions do not even require a college degree.

GO TO VOCATIONAL SCHOOL! There are many excellent vocational programs out there and now is the time to join. Since many trade workers will be retiring soon there is a great need for people with special skills: like electricians, crane operators, and welders, to replace the workers who are retiring.

In the medical industries field there is a great shortage of MRI techs, Radiology Techs, EEG techs, RN’s (even with a 2 year voc liscense), surgical techs etc. And don’t forget about the computer industry. (Think about Bill Gates.)

Also there are a lot of excellent on line schools out there that offer just as much as the brick and morder schools do but for a much less price.

We as a country need to stop the strangle hold that 4 year universities and colleges have on us. As someone who is suffering with student loan debt even many years after graduating from an overpriced over inflated 4 year university, I know the importance of giving my children the advantage of training for a good job without the burden of large student loan debt. With the US fluctuating job market, it is often a crap shoot on wheither or not one can find a high enough paying job to payback his/her student loans. If one cannot, forget about any kind of financial future such as being able to buy a house. There are many, like me, who are working in jobs in which we do not even use our 4 year degree(s). When I first started working in the health care field no one cared that I had a BA degree in Journalism. That would not even get me a job as a Patient Services Rep. I had to work my way up to that. What hospital employers cared about is what kind of experience I had. Up to 45% of us are working in jobs in which are degrees do not apply.

So unless you are going onto law school, medical school, or a career in social work. Forget about it.

It is time as a nation that we stopped letting 4 year institutions of learning bleed us dry.

*******
So it got me to thinking why should I waste my time and money on a business degree in Accounting/Finance when I will most likely not be working in my field.

This was the article I was reading.

will nvq level 3 in children and young people care get me into social work or youth work?

emma24uk asked the question:

hi guys
i have just got a new job as a support worker in a childrens home dealing with children and young people who have autism. I will be trained to get an nvq level 3 in health and social care (children and young people). Will this be a good foundation for getting myself into social work or youth work??
I already have a degree but its of no releveance to social work so im trying to work my way up into a job which would provide social work degree alongside its job ie as a social work assistant. Will this be a good foot in the door?
